Greyhound Silversides
Coach by Raymond Loewy, about 1948. Cardmodel is appr. 1/50 scale, length 19
cm. I photographed the bus in Amsterdam,
being a classic vehicle used for corporate promotion of a fashion store. From
the photo's I reconstructed the entire vehicle, not using drawings at all. The
front sign 'Detroit' was still on the bus so I used it too. I thought the engine
to be a Detroit V8 Diesel, but it appeared to be a V6, and when it drove
away the engine seemed a bit weared out, ratting and tatting and with a lot
of stenchy smoke. Alas, for a 50 year old vehicle, a wonder it still runs by
itself.
The curved roof
was the most challenging on this model, especially the back end. I think I made
an elegant solution for this curving problem but it is still not an easy model
to build.
